Bunny Hop Side Wrap Kimono

Sizes: 6-9 (12, 18, 24 months) 2T
Knitted Measurements: 19 ¾ (22 ¼, 24, 26 ¼, 28 ¼)”

Materials:
Crystal Palace Bunny Hop –MC 2 (2, 3, 3, 4) color #2204 "barely green"; CC 1 (1, 1, 1, 2) color #2304 "misty green", 50 gram balls
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles or DAISY Needles US size 7 (4.5mm) straight; and 26-35” circular; Or size needed to obtain gauge.
May also be worked back and forth on circular needles.
Crochet Hook size F (3.75 mm)
Large Snap
1-1” Button
Removable stitch markers

Gauge: 19 sts and 28 rows= 4” in Stockinette stitch; blocked. Be sure to do a gauge swatch.

Abbreviations: BO- bind off; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; k-knit; k2tog-knit 2 stitches together; p-purl; rep-repeat; RS-right side; sl 1-slip one stitch as if to purl; st(s)-stitch (es); WS-wrong side; wyib- with yarn in back; wyif-with yarn in front.

Back
Using straight needles and CC, CO 47 (53, 57, 63, 67) sts. Work 10 rows of trim as follows: Note: Slip stitch as if to purl.

Garter Slip Stitch (multiple of 2 +1)
Row 1 & 2 (CC): Knit
Row 3 (MC): K1 *sl 1, k1: rep from * to end
Row 4 (MC): K1, *sl 1 wyif, k1 wyib: rep from * to end
Row 5 & 6 (CC): Knit
Row 7 (MC): K2, *sl 1, k1; rep from * to end
Row 8 (MC): K2 *sl 1 wyif, k1 wyib; rep from * to end
Row 9 & 10 (CC): Knit

Body
Using MC, begin working in Stockinette Stitch until piece measures 9 (10, 11, 12, 13)” from cast on edge. Using removable stitch markers, mark center 15 (17, 17, 19, 23) sts for neck. Bind off.

Left Front
Using straight needles and CC, CO 47 (53, 57, 63, 67) sts. Work 10 rows Garter Slip Stitch Pattern same as for back.

Body Left Front
Using MC, begin working in Stockinette Stitch. Work for 3 rows. (WS) Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each WS row 3 (4, 4, 5, 6) times. Decrease 1 st at end neck edge) of every RS row 19 (19, 21, 21, 21) times. [16 (18, 20, 22, 22)] sts. Work even until piece measures 9 (10, 11, 12, 13)” from cast on edge. BO all sts.

Right Front
Note: The right front is the reverse shaping of the left front.
Using straight needles and CC, CO 47 (53, 57, 63, 67) sts. Work 10 rows Garter Slip Stitch Pattern same as for back.

Body Right Front
Using MC, begin working in Stockinette Stitch. Work 2 rows. Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each RS row 3 (4, 4, 5, 6) times.
Decrease 1 st at beg (neck edge) of every RS row 19 (19, 21, 21, 23) times. [16 (18, 20, 22, 22)] sts. Work even until piece measures 9 (10, 11, 12,13)” from cast on edge. BO all sts. [Note: "beg" was added correction 12/07]

Sleeves
Using straight needles and CC, CO 31 (33, 35, 37, 39). Work 10 rows Garter Slip St Pat same as for the back. Using MC, begin working in St st work 4 rows. Inc 1 st each end of next row.

Rep increase row every 4th row 4 (5, 6, 7, 8) times. [41(45, 49, 53, 57)] sts. Work even until sleeve measures 6 (6 ½. 7, 7, 8)” from CO edge. BO all sts.

Finishing
Block pieces. Sew shoulder seams. Work neckband.

Neckband
RS facing, using CC and circular needles, beginning at Right Front Lower edge (just above the bottom trim) pick up 64 (68, 72, 74, 76) along right front edge; 15 (17, 17, 19, 23) back neck, and 64 (68, 72, 74, 76) along left front edge (end just above bottom trim). [143 (153, 161, 167, 175)] sts.

Work rows 2-9 of Garter Stitch Pattern (you will end after working a RS row. WS, BO in knit. Set sleeves. Sew right sleeve and side seams.

Inside Ties
Using crochet hook, beginning at center of right front edge (this is the piece that will be tied on the inside), join yarn with slip stitch and chain for 6”. Fasten off. For 2nd inside tie, repeat at inside seam edge making certain that it lines up with tie just worked.

Apply Snap and button to opposite side of garment. Work in all ends.
