[Note: You may want to substitute Splash, Squiggle or Fizz for the edging. You will see that the nylon paper component of some Fling colors may lose some color during felting. Do a test piece of felt first to test color results. ]
2 - Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY Needles 16" circular needles, US size 11 (8 mm) (or one size 11 and one other smaller gauge circular needle to use as a stitch holder)

8 stitch markers (2 in a color unlike the other six)
Eight ˝ inch inside diameter brass grommets (found in most home improvement stores)Gauge:
3˝ stitches per inch in stockinette stitch knit in the round.
Size of bag before felting: 11 inches tall x 17 inches wide x 2 inches deep
Length of I-cord before felting: 10 feet
Finished dimensions after felting: 7” tall x 13” wide x 2” deepBottom of Bag
With the size 11 circular needle and holding two strands of Color A together, cast on 50 stitches and work back and forth in garter stitch for 12 rows (6 garter stitch ridges).Picking up stitches for the body of the bag, working in the round
Continuing with two strands of Color A, pick up 6 stitches across the short side of the piece, place marker; pick up 50 stitches across the other long side of the piece, place marker; pick up 6 stitches across the other short side of the piece, place marker; knit across the first 50 stitches that were left on the needle, place marker. 112 stitches total. The markers designate the corners of the bag. For reference, the last marker placed should be a different color from the others to designate it as the beginning of the round.Begin knitting in the round, continuing with two strands of Color A, in stockinette stitch for 5 rounds. Cut Color A and attach Color B. Knit with one strand of Color B in stockinette stitch in the round for 35 rounds. At the completion of 35 rounds, cut Color B, secure the ends of the circular needle with point protectors or rubber bands to hold the stitches (or transfer to a different smaller gauge circular needle, if necessary for holding). Turn the bag wrong side out.
Picking up stitches for Side B, working in the round
Orient the bag so that the bottom is at the bottom and the top with the stitches being held is at the top. Be sure as you pick up stitches that you are doing so in such a way that the two finished purl sides of the bag will be facing together.Beginning at the corner which represents the beginning of the round, with one strand of Color C, you will be picking up stitches in the purl bumps created when Color B was attached to Color A near the bottom of the bag. Pick up 6 stitches, place marker. Pick up 50 stitches, place marker. Pick up 6 stitches place marker. Pick up 50 stitches, place a uniquely colored marker to designate this corner as the beginning of the round. Knit in the round in stockinette stitch with Color C for 35 rows. Do not be concerned if your circular knitting has the stockinette in the inside and the purls on the outside of the work. When the bag is turned right side out, the purl sides will be facing. As long as the finished result has the two purl sides facing, knit in the way which is most comfortable for you.
Knitting the two sides together and finishing
At the end of 35 rounds, cut Color C, leave the stitches on the needle and turn the bag so that the two purl sides are together. Align the two sets of markers and the two circular needles. With one strand of Color A and two strands of the Fling, begin at the Side A beginning-of-round marker and knit Side A and Side B of the bag together as follows.
Holding the two needles parallel, use the right hand end of the side A needle as the working needle. Insert the needle knit-wise into the first Side A stitch and knit-wise into the first Side B stitch. Knit them together with the three strands of yarn (one strand of Color A plus 2 strands of Fling). Continue knitting the stitches together in this manner until all 112 have been knit together. Work in the round in garter stitch for 4 more rounds with the three strands of yarn, beginning with a purl round. This will encourage the Fling yarn to evenly distribute on both sides of the bag. After Round 4, bind off all stitches.I-cord handles
With the double pointed needles, cast on 5 stitches in Color A and knit an I-cord that is 10 feet long before felting. To knit I-cord, after casting on, do not turn the work, but *slide the stitches to the opposite end of the needle, pulling the working yarn behind the piece, tightening as necessary, and knit the five stitches again*. Repeat the actions between the asterisks until the correct length of cord is achieved. Bind off. Felt the bag. (Tip: to encourage the two reversible layers to felt together, tack them together invisibly in one or two places on each side with a strand of the Color B yarn.
Weave ends to the inside of the layers.) Install grommets according to manufacturer’s instructions. Cut the felted I-cord into two equal pieces, fit through grommets as shown, and tie.Optional: Knit and felt additional I-cords from the remaining colors of yarns for use when you might want to change the color of the handles or use with the reverse side of the bag.
