Totefolio! Perfect for working women, this bag is offered in two colorways.
Choose Neapolitan for a dressy, tailored look. Choose Casual Friday for a more
dressed-down look. Either way, Totefolio will be a workhorse in your handbag
collection.

Closure hardware for purse and pocket flaps
Dimensions and Gauge:
Before Felting – 20" wide, 3˝" deep, 15" tall
After Felting – 15" wide, 3" deep, 10" tall
2˝ stitches per inch, 3 rounds per inch in stockinette stitch in the round
Abbreviations:
K -Knit; P -Purl; SSK -Slip, slip, knit; SSSK -Slip, slip, slip, knit; K2tog
-Knit two together; K3tog -Knit three together; P3tog -Purl three together; CO
-Cast on; BO -Bind off; SC -Single crochet; PM -Place marker; PU -Pick up
Bottom of bag:
Using 1 strand of Color A, CO 48 sts on circular needle. K
rectangle in garter st (all rows) until you have K 16 rows (8 garter ridges). RS
facing, PM (unique marker), then K to end of row. PM then PU 8 sts across first
short edge. PM and PU 48 sts across CO edge. PM and PU 8 sts across remaining
short edge. 112 sts. Now begin Round 1.
Body of the bag:
Rounds 1-4: Continue with Color A and K 4 rounds.
Round 5: K5, P16, K6, P16, K to the end of round. This round sets up purl
sts for pocket bottom locations.
Round 6: K5, P1, K14, P1, K6, P1, K14, P1, K to the end of round. This round
sets up P sts for pocket side locations.
Rounds 7-31: Change to Color B and repeat Round 6 until you have knit 25
rounds of Color B.
Round 32: K 1 round with no P stitches.
Round 33: K4, P18, K4, P18, K repeated to the end of round. This round
sets up P sts for pocket flap locations.
Rounds 34-45: Knit 12 more rounds in K. (39 total rounds with Color B)
Rounds 46-49: Switch to Color A and K 4 rounds.
BO
Pockets and Pocket Flaps (make 2 of each):
Pockets – With Color C, cast on 21.
Row 1: K18, Sl 3 with yarn in front, turn
Row 2: K3, P15, Sl 3 with yarn in front, turn
Work Rows 1 and 2: (a total of 14 times). BO with an I-cord bind off as follows:
K3, return the three stitches to the left needle. *K2, K2tog, return the three
stitches to the left needle.* Repeat between the asterisks until three stitches
remain and then K the three stitches together, cut the yarn and secure the ends.
Flaps – Cast on 17 with Color B for Neapolitan or
Colors C and D held together for Casual Friday.
Row 1: K
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10: P
Row 3: K
Row 5: SSK, K to the last 2 stitches, K2tog (15 stitches)
Row 7: SSSK, K to the last 3 stitches, K3tog (11 stitches)
Row 9: SSSK, K to the last 3 stitches, K3tog (7 stitches)
Row 11: SSSK, K to the last 3 stitches, K3tog (3 stitches)
Row 12: P3tog, cut yarn weave in ends.
With Color C and the crochet hook, attach the yarn work 3 single crochet
stitches along the top side of the flap, 8 single
crochet stitches down the angle to the point, 1 single crochet at the point, 8
single crochet stitches up to the other side, and
3 single crochet stitches to the top of the pocket. Cut yarn and weave ends.
Attach pockets and flaps:
Align the I-cord bound off edge of the pocket with the bottom row of purl
stitches and align the side edges of the pockets
with the vertical column of purl bumps. Sew pocket to the purl bumps using Color
C. Repeat for other pocket
Using the crochet hook and Color C, single crochet each pocket flap to the top
row of purl stitches above each pocket. Cut
yarn and weave ends. Repeat for other flap.
Felting and finishing:
Felt the bag using your preferred felting method. Shape the bag to dry by
pinning it to a blocking board, pleating in the sides and bottom. Sew on the
handle and install closure hardware.
