Preview Pattern
Bamboozle is a new yarn coming for Spring 2007
55% bamboo, 24% cotton, 21% elastic nylon

New Bamboozle yarn will arrive in December in a wide range of solid and printed colors. A mini-version will also be available as a sock or baby yarn.

Sizes: S (M, L, XL)

Knitted Bust measurements:
37 (39 ½, 41 ¼, 43, 45 ¾)”
Model shown in size M

Materials:
Crystal Palace Bamboozle 13 (14, 15, 16) - 50 gram balls
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo or DAISY US size 9(5.5mm) 16” circular and US size 9 (5.5mm) straight, or may be knit back and forth on 26” circular needles, Or size needed to obtain gauge.

2 large stitch holders
2 stitch markers (or loops of contrasting color yarn)

Gauge: 18 sts & 27 rows = 4" on size 9 needles in pattern stitch; blocked; We recommend letting the swatch rest 12 hours before measuring the gauge, due to the elastic content of this yarn.
Be sure to do a gauge swatch.

Abbreviations: CO-cast on; Dec-decrease; k-knit; p- purl; rem-remain; rep-repeat; rnd-round; RS-right side; st(s)-stitch (es); WS-wrong side.

Back
Using size 9 needles, CO 91 (97, 103, 107, 113) sts. Work in Stitch pattern as follows:
Row 1 (RS): *K1, p1; rep from * end k1
Row 2: Purl
Work 24 rows of pattern begin A-line shaping. Place removable markers at beginning and end of row to mark side vent opening.

A-Line shaping
Continuing to work in pattern stitch, working all decreased stitches into pattern as established, decrease 1 st at each end of next row. [89 (95, 101, 105, 111)] sts. Repeat decrease row every 24 (24, 18, 18, 18) rows; 3 (3, 4, 4, 4) times. [83 (89, 93, 97, 103) sts]. Work even until piece measures 14 ½ (15, 15, 15 ½)” from cast on edge, end after working WS row.
Armhole shaping
Bind off 4 (4, 5, 5, 5) sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each end of every other row 6 (8, 8, 9, 11) times. [63 (65, 67, 69, 71) sts]. Work even until armhole measures 7 (7 ½, 8, 8 ½, 9)”, end after working WS row.
Shape shoulder

Bind off 8 (8, 8, 9, 9) sts at beginning next 2 rows. Bind off 8 (9, 9, 9, 9) sts, at the beginning of next 2 rows. Place center 31 (31, 33, 33, 35) sts on holder.

Front
Work same as for the back, following armhole shaping until armhole measures 5 ½ ( 6, 6½, 7, 7 ½)”. Begin neck shaping.
Neck Shaping
Work both sides at the same time. Work 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) sts. Slip next 23 sts to holder, using 2nd ball of yarn work remaining 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row, 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) times, dec 1 sts at neck edge every other row 2 (2, 3, 3, 3) times. [16 (17, 17, 18, 18)] sts remain. Work even until armhole meas 7 (7 ½, 8, 8, 9)”. Shape shoulders same as for the back.

Sleeves
Using size 9 needles CO 39 (39, 41, 43, 43) sts. Working in pattern stitch, work 10 (8, 8, 8, 8) rows. Increase 1 st at each end of next row. Work all increased stitches into stitch pattern as established. Repeat increase row every 8 rows 0 (0, 5, 4, 8) times and every 10 rows 9 (10, 6, 7, 4) times. [59 (61, 65, 67, 69] sts. Work even until sleeve measures 17 (17 ½, 18, 18, 18 ½)” from cast on edge or desired length to underarm, end after working WS row.
Shape Cap
Bind Off 4 (4, 5, 5, 5) sts at the beginning of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next row; work all decreased stitches into pattern as established. Repeat dec row every other row 15 (16, 16, 15, 16) times, and every row 1 (1, 2, 3, 3) times. Bind off remaining 17 (17, 17, 19, 19) sts.

Finishing
Block pieces. Sew shoulder seams. Work neckband. Set sleeves. Sew side seams above side vent markers, sew sleeve seams.

Neckband
Using 16”circular needles, beginning a left front Shoulder, pick up 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts along left front neck edge; 23 sts from stitch holder, 13 (13, 13, 13, 15) sts along right front neck edge, edge, 31 (31, 33, 33, 35) sts from stitch holder. [80 (80, 82, 82, 88] sts. Join into round and work as follow:
Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from *
Rnd 2: Knit
Repeat these 2 rounds for 1½”, end after working Round 1.
Bind off loosely in purl.
