Merino Frappe Asymmetrical Pullover

Asymmetrical Cable Pullover
knit with Merino Frappe

This soft cropped pullover has an asymmetrical ribbed cable, a mock turtleneck and full-fashion detailing. The bottom edge is deliberately irregular.

 Materials:
Merino Frappe
  6 (7, 9, 10, 10) balls (model knit in color 204 "white white")
CPY Bamboo Needles or
DAISY Needles US size 9 (5.0 mm) or size to get correct gauge.

Gauge: 4 sts & 6 rows/inch measured over St st. Be sure to do a swatch to check your gauge.

Abbreviations
Beg-beginning; BO-bind off; CO-cast on; Cont-Continue; Dec-decrease; Inc-increase; EOR-End of Row; K3tog- knit 3 stitches together;  PU-pick up; Rem- remaining; Rep-repeat; Rnds-rounds; RS-right side; St(s)-stitch (es); St st-Stockinette Stitch; WS-wrong side

Sizes : S (M, L, XL, 1X)
(finished garment chest measurements: 44 (49, 54, 59, 64)"

Gauge: 4 stitches, 6 rows per inch measured over St st
Be sure to check gauge, change to smaller or larger needles if needed.

Back
Cast on 88 (98, 108, 118, 128) sts. Work in St st until back measures 11 (12, 13, 14, 15) inches.
Armhole shaping:
Row 1: K2, K3tog, K to last 5 stitches, K3tog through back loop, K2
Row 2: P to EOR
Repeat this sequence once more S, M, L and twice more for XL and 1X
Row 1 (after armhole shaping): K2, K2tog, K to last 4 stitches, K2tog trough back loop, K2
Row 2: P to EOR
Repeat this sequence 4 more times for S, M, L and 5 more times for XL & 1X
Continue on 72 (82, 92) stitches for S, M, L and 96 stitches for XL and 106 stitches for 1X until body measures 18 ½ (19 ½, 21, 22, 23) inches.
Shoulder shaping:
bind off 7 (8, 9, 10, 11) stitches at the beginning of 4 rows, then 7 (8, 9, 9,11) stitches at the beginning of 2 rows.
Back Neck:
Place remaining 30 (34, 38, 38, 40) stitches on a holder.


Front
[Note that extra sts are CO for front to make up for cable take-up.]
Cast on 105 (110, 115, 120, 125) stitches.
Set up rows for cable:
Row 1: K50 (55, 60, 65, 70) – Cable location: P1, *K1, P1* repeat 13 times from *to* – K28 (33, 38, 43, 48)
Row 2: P28 (33, 38, 43, 48) – Cable location: K1, *P1, K1* repeat 13 times from *to*– P50 (55, 60, 65, 70)
Repeat these two rows 7 more times.

Cable stitch: [cable is worked in K1, P1]
Place 13 stitches on a cable needle to the front, *K1, P1* 7 times from *to* [14 sts], work 13 stitches from cable needle

Cable pattern:
Row 1: K50 (55, 60, 65, 70) – cable pattern – K28 (33, 38, 43, 48)
Row 2 to Row 16: same as Set-up Rows above
Continue working in this manner keeping the cable as described above every 16 rows. Also, work armhole and shoulder shaping same as for back.

Front Neck:

When front measures 16 ( 17, 18, 20, 21) inches place center 14 stitches on holder. Work both sides of neck separately, bind off 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) stitches twice, then 1 stitch every 2 rows 4 (6, 8, 6, 7) times. Work on remaining stitches until front measures same as back.
AT THE SAME TIME keep cable pattern correct.


Sleeves
Cast on 36 ( 42, 48, 54, 60) stitches. Increase 1 stitch both sides every 8 rows 7 (8, 9, 10, 11) times until sleeve measures 15 (16, 17, 17 ½, 18) inches.
Cap shaping:

Row 1: K2, K2tog, K to last 5 stitches, K2tog trough back loop, K2
Row 2: P to EOR
Repeat these 2 rows 13 (15, 17, 19, 21) times. Bind off remaining stitches.


Finishing
Sew shoulders together. Set in sleeves. Sew side seams. Make collar. Block such that the cable is extended and the ribbing shows.

Collar
Pick up stitches from its holder at back neck 28 (28, 28, 30, 32) stitches, 20 (20, 20, 22, 22) stitches each front neck edge and front 14 stitches from the holder – 82 (82, 82, 86, 90) stitches total. Work in K2/P2 rib until desired length is achieved. 4.5 to 6 inches.
