Gauge:
19 sts = 4 inches, and 33 rows = 4 inches, using size 9 needle in slip stitch

Top Trim:
Using size 6 needles CO 45 sts. Knit 4 rows.
Body:
Change to size 9 needles begin Slip Stitch Pattern as follows:
(Slip Stitch Pattern is multiple of 4 + 1 sts)
Row 1: (RS): (Color A) K4, *sl1 wyib, k3, rep from * to last 5
sts, sl1 wyib, k4.

Row 7: Using Color B rep row 3.
Row 8: Using color B rep row 3.
Repeat Rows 5-8 until purse measures 17 ¼” from CO edge, ending with row 6.
Work rows 3 and 4 once using Color C.
Top Trim:
Change to size 6 needles, knit 4 rows. BO. Follow finishing instructions.
Finishing:
RS together, fold bag in half so that the top trims are
together. Using tapestry needle and Color A, sew each side. Work in all ends.
Attach button, button loop and straps.
Button and Button Loop:
Sew button to the center of the top trim, using needle and thread. Using crochet
hook and color A, join yarn with slip stitch, at center of top trim on the
opposite side of the purse, chain enough stitches to go around the button, make
it a little snug, as it will loosen with use; fasten to the beginning of the
chain to make a loop.
Purse Straps: (Make 2)
Making a Twisted Cord: Knot the cut ends and loop
over a hook or doorknob. Insert a knitting needle through the other end. Twirl
needle around until the strands of yarn are twisted very tightly. Fold the
twisted strand in half, keeping the cord taut. Holding the top of the cord
release your hand from the bottom and let the cord twist, even out the turns by
running your hand along the cord. Knot the ends of the cord, so that it doesn’t
untwist.
Cut 6 yd piece of Rave color C, fold in half and follow
instructions for the twisted cord.
Cut 6 yd piece of Party color A, fold in half and follow
instructions for the twisted cord. Make a 2nd cord using Party color A.
You now have 3 cords, 2 cords of Party Color A and 1 cord of Rave Color C.
Placing Rave Color C in between the 2 Color A cord, knot the cords, leaving
about 1-1 ½” for a tassel, braid the 3 cords, knot the ends leaving a 1- 1
½”tassel. Rep for 2nd strap.
Attach straps: RS facing, using needle and thread, attach one end of the
cord to the outside of the purse, rep for other end of the cord. Rep for other
side of the purse.
