Cabled Scarf knit with Kaya
100% wool striated dyed
Finished Measurements: 5"
x 76"
MATERIALS:
Crystal Palace KAYA
100% wool, 65 yds 50 gm balls. 3 balls, color #0115 "tapestry"
Crystal Palace Bamboo Needles
size 10.75 (7 mm).
GAUGE: 3.25 sts = 1" in Stockinette stitch (St st)
Abbreviations:
garter st: K all sts, WS & RS
4-4CF: hold 4 sts on cable needle at front of
work, K 4 sts from left needle, then K 4 sts from cable needle
St st: Stockinette Stitch (K on WS, P on RS)
Rev St st: Reverse St st (P on RS, K on WS)
RS: Right side
WS: Wrong Side
Scarf:
Cast on 24 sts
Work 4 rows in garter st
Note: outer 4 sts at each side of scarf are worked in garter st
throughout.
Rows 1,3,5,7,9 (RS): K4, P4, K8, P4, K4
Rows 2,4,6,8,10: (WS): K8, P8, K8
Row 11 (RS - make cable): K4, P4, 4-4CF, P4, K4
Row 12: K8, P8, K8
Repeat these 12 rows until you have almost used all 3 balls of Kaya or have
reached desired length.
Work 4 rows of garter st to end scarf.
Bind off loosely.
Block: Using mild dishwashing detergent, soak and gently agitate the Kaya scarf, then rinse well. Roll in bath towel to remove excess water and spread flat on towels or carpet to dry. Using your fingers gently block the scarf out sideways to spread the cable open and allow the scarf to dry with the garter stitch sides flattened.
Note: The scarf in the photo had a slightly random spacing of the cable row. Some were placed 2 rows closer together, some 2 rows further apart.
