A Free Scarf Pattern in  Mochi Plus

Inspiration:
the new Bossa-Nova colorway of Mochi+ is exciting and wild, so I thought it would be fun to combine with the Neptune colorway to “cool" the hot tones and make a scarf fit for a gift for your favorite guy or gal.

Materials:
4 - 50 gm balls Crystal Palace Mochi Plus color A (#562, Bossa-Nova); 2 each: color B (#558, Neptune).
Crystal Palace Bamboo 16" circular needle in size US 7, or size required for gauge.
Large eyed tapestry needle or crochet hook

Gauge: 5 sts/in. (20 sts/10 cm) over garter st.
Size: ~64 in long, or desired length

Abbreviations:
CO- cast on; dpn- double pointed needles; K- Knit; K2tog - knit 2 sts together; P- Purl; rep - repeat; St st - stockinette stitch; YO - yarn over; PSSO - pass slip st over; rnd(s) - round(s); st(s)- stitch(es); tog - together; M1 - lift the “bar" between the st just knit on Rt needle, and the next st on the Left needle, K this st, 1 st Inc made.

Instructions:
With color A, cast on 2 sts; K into the front and back of each st = 4 sts. Turn. Knit. Join color B.

Designer’s notes:
1. When first joining a new color, knit one stitch with old and one with new yarn. This won’t show, and will “lock" in the new yarn.
2. Never change yarns in the middle of a row; plan ahead and always change at the end. It’s better to waste a little yarn than to risk a lumpy/bumpy change in middle of your work
3. In this pattern, twist the working and non-working yarns together as you change colors. The yarn not in use is simply carried up to the next row where the color change will be made
Increase Pattern:
Row 1: (place marker to indicate as the “front" and inc row)
Inc 1 by K into front & back of 1st st; K to last 2 sts; Inc 1 by K into front and back of next-to-last st; K1, Turn.
Row 2: K all sts.
Rep these two rows, alternating colors every 2 rows, until you have 34 sts. Now work main pattern.
Main Pattern:
Row 1: Dec 1 by K2tog; K across to last 2 sts; Inc 1 by K into front & back of next-to-last st; K1.
Row 2: Verify that you have 34 sts on needle; K across.
Alternate Colors A & B changing on Row 1 each time.
Work these two Rows until you have nearly completed two balls of each color, and scarf is ~64 in long, or desired length.
Decrease Pattern:
Row 1: K2tog, K to last 2 sts, (Sl-1, K1, PSSO).
Row 2: K
Continue to change colors every 2 rows while decreasing down to 2 sts. Bind off.

Finishing: work in ends using crochet hook or crochet needle.
