Crocheted Flower Scarf or Cowl

Description:  This relatively easy motif scarf or cowl pattern is stunning with the slow color changes of Mochi Plus.

Level:  Easy (experience with basic in-the-round motifs recommended)

Size: 
Scarf
~ 6ΒΌ" wide x 48" long measured tip to tip (~6¾" measured on the diagonal x 40.5" measured on one edge)  
Cowl
~ 8½" wide  x 24" long measured tip to tip before seaming  (~9" measured on the diagonal x 20¼" measured on one edge)

Materials:

Gauge:  One flower motif=2¼" diameter

Abbreviations:  beg- beginning; ch- chain; dc- double crochet; hdc- half double crochet; rem- remaining; rnd- round; sc- single crochet; sl st- slip stitch; st(s)- stitches

Flower Motif:
Ch 6, leaving ~8" tail.  Join with sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1:  Work 12 sc in ring.  Join rnd with a sl st.
Rnd 2:  (Ch 3, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc), repeat around.  [6 loops made]
Rnd 3:  Work (1 sc, 3 hdc, 1 sc) in space made by loop, repeat around.  Join rnd with sl st.  [6 petals made]

Fasten off, leaving ~8" tail.

INSTRUCTIONS

Scarf:
Make 54 flowers.  Sew together in rows of 3, offset to form a diagonal piece, as in Diagram A.

Tip #1:  Sew flowers together after every 18 made so you have less sewing at the end.
Tip #2:  Weave in yarn ends to sewing points, and use them for sewing flowers together.

Weave in rem ends when finished.  Block if necessary.

Cowl:
Make 36 flowers.  Sew together in rows of 4, offset to form a diagonal piece, as in Diagram B.

Tip #1:  Sew flowers together after every 18 made so you have less sewing at the end.
Tip #2:  Weave in yarn ends to sewing points, and use them for sewing flowers together.

Sew ends together to form the cowl.  (The ends will go together on the diagonal.)

Weave in rem ends when finished.  Block if necessary.
