Knitted Coasters

Description: These coasters are easy peasy and make great holiday host or hostess gifts. Just one ball of cushy Cotton Chenille will yield four coasters.

Level: Beginner

Size: 4" x 4" square

Materials:

Yarn: 1 - 50g ball Crystal Palace Cotton Chenille in MC + some CC for whip-st edge if desired (shown in #1015 Natural and #4021 Red Velvet)*
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo 9" or 12" Single-Pointed Needles in US size 8, or size needed for gauge.
Yarn sewing needle

*1 ball of Cotton Chenille will yield 4 coasters, excluding whip-st edge.

Gauge: 3 sts=1 inch over St st with yarn doubled

Abbreviations: BO- bind off; CC- contrasting color; CO- cast on; k- knit; MC- main color; St st- stockinette stitch; st(s)- stitch(es)

Instructions:
Note: It is best to CO and BO using a needle that is 2-3 sizes larger than your working needles. In this case, a US size 10½ would work well.

With MC doubled, CO 12 sts. Knit each row (garter st) until piece measures 4". BO loosely. Weave in ends.

Optional Whip-St Edge:
If desired, work whip st around edge in CC. Weave in ends.

If giving as a gift, tie up 4 coasters with ribbon or extra Chenille or place in a gift box.
