Lofty Wool Snow Cap

This hat is worked from the bottom ribbing to the top. It is interesting to knit and will keep your ears toasty warm. Only one color is used at a time – you CAN do colorwork!
Size: Adult S/M (21 to 22”)
Materials:
• 2 skeins, 50g
Crystal
Palace Lofty Wool (70% Merino wool and 30% nylon)
68 yds/50 gr.)
Shown in Colors #7102 Levis and #1058 Snow White.
• Crystal Palace Bamboo Circular 16” size 7 & 9
• Crystal Palace Bamboo DP size 8”
• 9 stitch markers
Gauge: 16 st= 4 inches in stockinette stitch (St st).
Directions:
With #7 circular needle and #7102 - Levis, cast on 72 sts. Join without
twisting, and work in K1, P1 ribbing until piece measures 2”:
Change to #9 circular needle and continue in St st until piece measures 3-1/2”.
Slip Stitch Section:
Work Rounds 1 through 4 for a total of 22 rounds,
ending with Round 4.
Round 1: Levis: knit around.
Round 2: Levis: purl around.
Round 3: White: *K1, sl 1 as to purl with yarn in back* around
Round 4: White: *P1, sl 1 as to purl with yarn in back* around
Cut Levis and continue knitting around in White until
piece measures 6” or desired depth.
Set up round for top decreases: *K8, place marker*
around.
Shape top:
Round 1: *K to 2 stitches before marker, Sl 1 as to Knit, Sl 1 as to Knit,
K2togtbl,* 9 times.
Round 2: K even.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until 9 stitches remain. K3tog, 3 times – 3 sts remain.
Bind off.
Optional: Embellish with a tassel, combining the two hat colors.
