Pattern size 8 needles
For correct sizing, be sure to do a gauge swatch.
Back
Using size 8 needles, CO 97 (109, 121, 133) sts.
Knit 1 row.
Work in Ripple Stitch pattern as follows:
Row 1(RS): K
Row 2, 5, 6 & 8: P
Row 3, 4 & 7: K
Row 9: *K1, K2tog, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, ssk, ssk; rep from
* to last st; end K1.
Row 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18: P
Row 11: *K1 K2tog, K2, YO, K3, YO, K2, ssk; rep from * to last st end k1.
Row 13: *K1, K2tog, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, ssk, ssk; rep from
* to last st, end K1.
Row 15: *K1, K2tog, K2, YO, K3, YO, K2, ssk; rep fro * to last st end K1.
Row 17: *K1, K2 tog, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, YO, ssk, ssk; rep
from * to last st end K1.
Row 19: P
Row 20: K
Repeat rows 1-20 until piece measures 13 (13-1/2, 14, 14-1/2, 15)".
Shape Armhole
Work all bind off and decreased sts into pattern as established.
BO 4 (5, 6, 7) sts at beg of next 2 rows.
BO 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows,
BO 2 (3, 4, 5) sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st at each end every other row 2 (2, 2, 3) times & every 4 rows one
time—73 (79, 85, 89) sts.
Work even until armhole measures 3 (3-1/2, 4, 4-1/2)" end after working WS row.
Placket Opening
Work across 34 (37, 40, 42) sts, BO 5 center sts; join 2nd ball of yarn work rem
sts. Working both sides at the same time continue to work in patt until armhole
measures 7 (7-1/2, 8, 8-1/2)".
Shape Neck and Shoulders
Bind Off 11 (12, 14, 15) sts at each neck edge once then 2 sts at each neck edge
every other row once.
BO rem 22 (23, 24, 25) sts for each shoulder.
Work across 31 (33, 35, 37) sts, BO 11 (13, 15, 17) center sts for neck, and
join second ball of yarn work rem sts. Working both sides at the same time
continue to work in patt dec 4 sts at each neck edge every other row 1 time,
2 sts every other row 1 time, 1 st every other row 1 (2, 3, 3) times and 1 st
every 4 rows 2 times.
Work even until armhole measures same as the back BO 22 (23, 24, 25) sts for
each shoulder.
Front
Work same as for back until armhole measures 5 (5 1/2, 6, 6
1/2)".
Shape Neck
Work across 31 (33, 35, 37) sts, BO 11 (13, 15, 17) center sts for neck, and
join second ball of yarn work rem sts. Working both sides at the same time
continue to work in patt dec 4 sts at each neck edge every other row 1 time, 2
sts every other row 1 (1, 2, 3) times, 1 st every row 3 (4, 3, 3) times Work
even until armhole measures same as the back BO 22 (23, 24, 25) sts for each
shoulder.
Sleeves (Make 2)
Using size 8 needles, CO 49 (49, 49, 61) sts.
K 1 row
Work Rows 1-20 of Ripple Pattern for a total of 20 rows, end after
working WS row.
Increase 1 st at each end of next row.
Increase 1 st at each end every 8 rows 7 (0, 0, 6) times; and every 6 rows 4
(14, 11, 7) times & every 4 rows 0 (0, 5, 0) times—73 (79, 83, 89) sts.
Work all increased sts into pattern as established. Work even until sleeve
measures 17 (17 1/2, 18, 18 1/2)".
Shape Sleeve Cap
BO 4 (5, 6, 7) sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO 3 (4, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2
rows, BO 2 (3, 3, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end every row 4
times & every other row 5 times. BO 2 sts beg of next 6 rows & 3 sts at beg of
next 2 rows—19 (19, 21, 23) sts. BO all sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams. Work neckband, then placket bands. Sew buttonhole band to
placket opening, place button band under buttonhole band. Line up bottom edges.
Sew them together. Sew sleeve to armholes. Sew side & sleeve seams. Sew buttons
to button band.
Neckband
Using size 7 circular needles, RS facing. Beg at back left neck (at opening) PU
10 (12, 14, 16) sts at neck edge to shoulder seam; PU, 37 (41, 45, 47) sts
around neck to right shoulder seam, PU 10 (12, 14, 16) sts—57 (65, 73, 79) sts.
K 10 rows. BO all sts.
Placket Bands
Using size 7 needles, RS facing.
Buttonhole band
Beg at top right neckband. PU 32 sts along placket opening.
Rows 1-4: K
Row 5 (buttonhole band): K3, YO, ssk, *K6, YO, ssk; rep from *two more times,
K3.
Rows 6-8: K
BO all sts.
Button band
Beg at lower edge of placket opening. PU 32 sts along placket opening to top of
neckband. Knit 8 rows. BO all sts.
