Gauge: 19 sts and 26 rows= 4” in Stockinette Stitch
Abbreviations: BO-bind off; ch-chain; CO-cast on; Dec-decrease;
dc-double crochet; k-knit; k2tog-knit 2 stitches together; meas-measures;
psso-pass slip stitch over; p-purl; rep-repeat; RN-right needle; RS-right side;
sc-single crochet; SR- short row; sws-slip, wrap, slip; Sl1-knit
1-psso-slip1stitch, knit 1 stitch and pass slip stitch over stitch just knit;
St(s)-stitch (es); yo-yarn over; WS-wrong side.
Special techniques: SWS-Turn (Purl side): Purl designated stitches; yarn will be at the front, slip
the next stitch purlwise to the right needle. Move yarn between the needles to
the back of the work. Slip the same stitch back to the left needle. Turn the
work, (knit side will be facing) bring the yarn back to the purl side between
the needles and knit, this will have completes a short row.
Back CO 83 (89, 99, 109) sts. Work in Rib as follows: Row 1:(RS) K1, * p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P1*k1, p1; rep from * to end. Rep these 2 rows for a total of 6 rows increase 1 st on last row. [84 (90, 100,
110] sts. Work in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 11 (11½, 11 ½, 12)in. from CO
edge, end after working WS row.
Shape Armholes Bind off 2 (2, 2, 3) sts at the beginning of next 4 rows. Dec 1 st at each
end every 2 rows 4 (4, 7, 8) times and every 4 rows 1 (1, 1, 2) time(s). [66
(72, 76, 78] sts. Work even until armhole measures 7 ½ (8, 8 ½, 9)”. Bind of all
stitches. Mark 1st and last 19 (21, 22, 23) sts for shoulder.
Left Front (Straight Bottom Edge)
CO 59 (63, 69, 77) sts. Work in Rib as follows: Row 1:(RS) K1, * p1, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: P1*k1, p1; rep from * to end. Rep these 2 rows for a total of 6 rows. Work in Stockinette Stitch until
piece measures 11(11 ½, 11 ½, 12)” from CO edge, end after working WS row.
Armhole Shaping Bind off (2, 2, 2, 3) sts at beginning of next row. Work 1 row even BO 2
sts at armhole edge. Dec 1 st at armhole edge every 2 rows 4 (4, 7, 8) times
and every 4 rows 1(1,1,2) time(s). [50 (54, 57, 62] sts. Work until piece
measures 2 ½ ” above armhole bind off. Begin neck shaping. Neck Shaping
Dec st at neck edge every row 31 (33, 35, 39) times. [19 (21, 22, 23)]
sts. Work even on these shoulders sts until armhole measures 7 ½ (7 ½, 8, 8
½) ” from armhole BO. Bind off all sts.
Right Front- with Angled
Lower Edge Note: When picking up a purl wrap, insert the right needle from behind
into the back loop of the wrap and place it on the left needle, purl together
with the stitch on the left needle. This hides the wrap. CO 59 (63, 69, 77) sts. Work 6 rows of rib same as for the back. Working in
Stockinette Stitch, knit 1 row. Begin Short row shaping as follows: SR 1 & 2 (WS): P6 (8, 9, 8) sws- turn, knit to end
SR 3 & 4: P6 (8, 9, 8) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6, 7) sws- turn, knit to end [12
(14,16,16) sts on needle]. SR 5 & 6: P12 (14,16, 16) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6, 7) sws-turn, knit to end
[18 (20, 23, 24) sts on needle]. SR 7 & 8: P18 (20, 23, 24) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6, 7) sws-turn, knit to end
[24 (26, 30, 32) sts on needle]. SR 9 & 10: P24 (26, 30, 32) pu and purl wrap,
p5 (5, 6, 7), sws-turn, knit to end [30 (32, 37, 40) sts on needle] SR: 11 & 12: P 30 (32, 37, 40) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6,7), sws-turn knit to
end [36 (38, 44,48) sts on needle]. SR 13 & 14: P36 (38, 44, 48) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6 7), sws-turn, knit to
end [42 (44, 51, 56) sts on needle]. SR 15 & 16: P42 (44, 52, 56) pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6, 7), sws-turn, knit to
end [48 (50, 58, 64) sts on needle]. Row 17 & 18: P48 (50, 58, 64 pu and purl wrap, p5 (5, 6, 7), sws-turn, knit to
end [54 (56, 65, 72) sts on needle]. Row 19: Purl across 59 (63, 69, 77) sts. Short row shaping is complete.
Work even in Stockinette stitch until piece measures same as for left front
along the long straight seam edge. Shape same as for left front reverse all
shaping.
Sleeves (Make 2)
CO 44 (48, 48, 50) sts. Working in Stockinette Stitch, increase 1 st each
end every 16 rows, 2 (2, 0, 0) time(s) and every 14 (14, 14, 12) rows, 5 (5,
8, 9) times. [58 (62, 64, 68)] sts. Work even until sleeve measures 16 (16
½, 17, 17)”. Armhole and Sleeve Cap Shaping ind off 2 (2, 2, 3) sts at beginning of next 6 (6, 6, 2) rows and 2 sts at
beginning of next 0 (0, 0, 4) rows. Dec 1 st each end every other row 16
(17, 18, 18) times. [14 (16, 16, 18] sts. End after working WS row. Bind
off.
Finishing Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve cap to armhole. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Work trim.
Crochet Trim Beginning at Lower Right Seam, join with slip stitch, ch2, work 2 dc in same
space as slip stitch; * skip 2 stitches, work sc in next stitch, ch2, 2 dc in
same space as sc (1 scallop made); rep from * around outside edge of sweater. Work crochet trim around bottom of each sleeve, beginning at seam. Sew button on
left front, positioned so the shell loop at the beginning of the right front
neck shaping trim can be used as the button loop.
Optional Trim: Work 1 round sc around edge and then 1 round reverse
single crochet. Or you may work any crochet trim of your choice.
