Knitting Patterns
This hat will keep your ears toasty warm with a double layer cuff and ribbing.
Materials:
1 - 50 gr ball
Crystal Palace
Taos (100% wool) 128 yds/50 gr.
Shown in Color #004, Mirage. (To make a slightly taller hat, you will need 2
balls)
Crystal Palace Bamboo
US 8 needles, 16” circular & 8” DP
9 stitch markers
Gauge: 19 sts/4 inches (10 cm)
Directions:
With #8 circular needle, cast on 90 sts. Join without twisting, and work in
pattern until piece measures 2-1/2”:
Round 1: *K2, P1* around.
Round 2: *K2, P1* around.
Round 3: *K 2nd stitch and hold on left needle, K 1st stitch, drop both
1st and 2nd stitches, P1* around (forms mini-1 st cable)
Round 4: *K2, P1* around.
P 1 round. Work *K1, P1* rib for 2-1/2”.
Slip and wrap as for as short row and reverse direction of knitting.
K around until piece measures 7-1/2”. P2 rounds.
Shape top:
Round 1: *K10, Place Marker* 9 times.
Round 2: *SL 1, K1, PSSO, K to marker, slip marker* 9 times.
Round 3: K even.
Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until 9 stitches remain. K3tog, 3 times – 3 sts remain.
Work 3” I-cord, fasten off and attach I-cord end to center of crown to make a hangar loop.
Fold cuff on purl ridge between pattern and ribbing.
