Description: This soft and cozy neck warmer features alternating bands of eyelets and 3 x 3 cable. It is knit on needles slightly larger thanis typical for the yarn to allow for more drape and wearability. See the matching hat and mitts pattern for the entire set.
Level: Intermediate (knowledge of basic cables and eyelets recommended)
Size: 25" circumference x 7.5 (12.5)" high (Sample shown is taller size.)
Gauge: 7.5 sts = 1" over pattern
Abbreviations: BO- bind off; C6L- cable 6 left (slip next 3 stitches on cable needle an hold in front of work, knit next 3 stitches, then knit the 3 stitches off the cable needle; CO- cast on; k- knit; k2tog-knit 2 stitches together; p- purl; st(s) - stitches; x- times; yf- yarn forward (bring the yarn forward when making a knit stitch to make an eyelet hole - increases by 1 stitch); yo- yarn over (bring yarn around needle to make an eyelet hole - increases by 1 stitch)
With smaller needles, CO 192 sts. Place stitch marker to mark beg of rnd, if desired. Join and work k2 x p1 rib for 4 rnds. Change to larger needles.
Begin Cable-and-Lace Pattern:
Rnd 1: *p1, k2tog, yf, k2tog, yo, p1, k6; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 2 (and all even rnds): *p1, k4, p1, k6; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 3: *p1, (yf, k2tog) 2x, p1, k6; rep form * to end of rnd.
Rnd 5: Rnd 1.
Rnd 7: Rnd 3.
Rnd 9: *p1, k2tog, yf, k2tog, yo, p1, C6L; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 11: Rnd 3.
Rnd 12: Rnd 2.
Repeat these 12 rnds until piece measures approx. 12" from cast-on edge, ending with a Rnd 5. Change to smaller needles and work k2 x p1 rib for 4 rnds. BO loosely in rib. Weave in ends.
