Gold Rush

Easy Peacock Cowl

Description:  Add a little glitter to your winter accessories with Gold Rush.  This cowl is cozy and fun.  It features a feather-and-fan type peacock pattern.

Level:  Easy/Intermediate (k2tog decreases, yo's, working in the rnd)

Size:  ~33" circumference x 7" high

Materials: 

Gauge:  4 sts = 1 inch over pattern stitch on larger needles

Abbreviations:  beg- beginning; CO- cast on; k- knit; k2tog- knit 2 stitches together to decrease by one stitch; p- purl; p2tog- purl 2 stitches together to decrease by one stitch; rep- repeat; rnd- round;  ssk- slip 1 stitch knitwise onto right needle, slip 2nd stitch knitwise onto right needle, slip both stitches back onto left needle and knit them together (decreases by one); st(s)- stitch(es); yo- yarn over

 

INSTRUCTIONS

With circular needles, CO 120 sts.  Join (being careful not to twist sts); place marker to indicate beg of rnd.

P 1 rnd.  

 

Follow pattern:

Rnd 1: K around

Rnd 2: K around

Rnd 3: *[(yo, k1)4x (K2tog)4x)]

Rnd 4: K around

Rnd 5: K around

Rnd 6: K around

Rnd 7: as Rnd 3

Rnd 8: P around

 

Repeat these 8 rnds 4 times, then work rnds 1-4 once more.

 

Bind off in P.

 

Cut yarn leaving an ~6-8 in end.  Using the crochet hook or yarn needle, secure and weave in all ends.
