Straw
Into Gold is now Closed
as a Retail Store in Berkeley
Thanks to the many customers who helped make the last few months at Straw a
pleasure - we enjoyed seeing so many of you who came in from locally and from
afar to say "Farewell" and to scoop up the Sale items! It was a huge
success and our shelves were almost bare on March 31 as we all snacked on the
spread of food and swapped "Straw Stories" from the last 30 years.

Crystal Palace Yarns - Straw into Gold
WHOLESALE is now in Richmond, California
Straw Into Gold has Closed
as a Retail Store after 30 years
After 20 years on San Pablo Ave. in Berkeley,
(and 10 previous years on College Ave. in Oakland since 1971) the California
real estate boom reached our area - we were unable to renew
our lease and after searching for a new location we had to give up on finding a
suitable place for moving the Straw Into Gold retail store. We thought we'd be able to
find a place to move both our combined retail and wholesale sections.
We finally had to decide that we were simply priced out of the real estate
market in the Bay Area for retail space and closed Straw on March 31, 2001. You
will be able to continue to find Ashford equipment and products and Crystal
Palace Yarns, needles and fibers at your local spinning and weaving shop. See
the Ashford Dealer List for the USA - HERE
Thank you for your support for Straw Into Gold
at our Berkeley (and our 3 earlier Oakland locations) for so many years! We opened in 1971,
so 2001 marked our 30th year in the fiber business and we loved
them all!
